The UNT Office of the Provost is providing up to $150,000 in funds to support projects that will enhance student learning. This year the funds are allocated to two programs:
- 2009-2010 Transformative Instruction Initiative
The Transformative Instruction Initiative is a hands-on course redesign program that provides support for faculty to enrich their courses through innovative instructional design. Originally only a summer program, this year faculty can participate in a new Spring 2010 program. This exciting opportunity also involves a year-long commitment to serve as a TII Faculty Fellow. Preference will be given to proposals that address issues in multiculturalism or sustainability. - 2009-2010 Learning Enhancement Grant Program
The goal of the Learning Enhancement Grant Program is to encourage faculty to explore new ways of using technology in an effort to improve and enrich the student learning experience. A priority this year is the design or re-design of a course or program in support of the university’s Strategic Goal 1: To promote excellence in student-centered education. Projects that involve the exploration of new or emerging technologies are preferred.
The Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign (CLEAR) is requesting proposals from faculty members who would like to participate in these programs. Eligibility, funding levels, and instructions for submitting a proposal are provided in detail in the RFPs that follow. The application deadline for both programs is October 21, 2009. Faculty members may submit proposals to both programs, but will only be able to receive one award.

An information session on these programs will take place on October 9, 2009 in PEB 206 from noon to 1:00 p.m. Please call Lindsey Taflinger at X4946 or email her at lindsey.taflinger@unt.edu to reserve a seat.
