Joint Conference on the Student Experience

Student success is imperative to UNT as a caring and creative community. The University Forum on Teaching and Learning and Student Portraits Symposium have combined forces to provide two days of interactive sessions, presentations, and more to support best practices in student success. The brand-new Joint Conference on the Student Experience will run May 1-2, 2019 in the Gateway Ballroom.

The theme for the 2019 event is National Trends and What They Mean for Texas Students. This theme will allow us to explore practices that improve student success and retention through effective teaching and learning and student support services.

The conference planning committee encourages presentation proposals regarding proven practices with content that will engage participants in fruitful discussions and provide inspiration for application and practice. The outline/description should give the reviewers an understanding of your proposed presentation by addressing the following points:

  • goals of presentation;
  • description of content that will be presented;
  • relationship of the presentation to the conference theme, student success, and national trends;
  • identification of program format (e.g., lecture, panel, interactive session, poster) including methods for participant involvement (e.g., discussion, effective practice sharing, case study analysis) and;
  • the conceptual foundation for content including ways the presentation content is grounded in research, relevant experience, a cogent model, and/or appropriate theory.
